PORTAGE LAKE - Pearle L. Soucy, our beautiful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, passed away
Sunday, March 3, 2013, in the presence of the people who loved her most - her family. She was born Aug.
10, 1929, in Ashland, daughter of Everett and Odelle (Carney) Walker.
She lived most of her adult life at Portage Lake, where she and her husband of 52 years, Alberie "Barry"
Soucy, together built a lifetime of memories. Pearle was a devoted member of Our Lady of the Lake
Catholic Church, Portage Lake. Her unwavering faith and religious devotion sustained her through times of
difficulty in her life. Pearle gave unselfishly of herself to many organizations and clubs. She was a charter
member of Portage Hills Country Club and was past president and vice president of PHCC, traveled with
the Lady Seniors Golf League representing PHCC, and served on PHCC Board of Directors. She was a
charter member of Portage Snowmobile Club; president, secretary and treasurer of Our Lady of the Lake
Sodality; served on the finance committee and parish council for St. Mark Parish and was a Eucharistic
minister. She was involved with education through her service as an educational advisor of SAD 32 Board
of Directors, played an integral part in raising money for scholarships for SAD 32 through Dollars for Scholars Campaign. She was
the town of Portage Lake health officer, member of A.R. Gould Hospital Auxiliary, and past director of Ashland Health Center. Her
senior years were spent bowling with Northern Lanes Senior Bowling League, Portage Lake Red Hat Loonies and Over 50 Club.
She never took more than she gave and truly taught by example. She was employed with the Postal Service for 30 years.
She is survived by her son, Darrell Soucy and wife, Sandra, of Portage Lake; two daughters, Nancy Levasseur of Fort Fairfield,
and Carol Gagnon and husband, Wayne, of Portage Lake; grandchildren, Adam Soucy of Portage Lake, Sarah Ellsworth and
husband, Ryan, of Presque Isle, Erin Gagnon and husband, Cole, of Windham, Ben Gagnon and wife, Abby, of Portage Lake,

Hampden; and sisters-in-law, Adrienne Bartlett, Callie Walker and Virginia Walker. She leaves many nieces and nephews who will
always remember their "Aunt Pearle." She also leaves a lifetime of friends, especially the "coffee crew" at Dean's Hotel, who filled
her last years with love, respect and kindness. In addition to her parents, Pearle was predeceased by her husband of 52 years,
Alberie "Barry" Soucy; brothers, Donald, Everett and Eugene; and sisters, Ruth Ann and Marjorie.
