BANGOR - Diane Shibles, 70, passed away Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013, at her home of 40 years. She was born April 1, 1943, in Bangor. She was predeceased by her parents Vincent and Frances Cuozzo.

Diane attended Bangor High School and graduated from Husson University with a Bachelor's in Business. While at Husson, she was named the Outstanding Woman, and was also the president of the Epsilon Tau Epsilon sorority. She taught elementary school in Hermon from 1966-1972, and then became a home-maker.

Diane always put the needs of others first, and loved the times she spent with her family. She leaves behind her loving husband, Dennis Shibles of 42 years; her two daughters, Myra Shibles and Mary Soucy; her son-in-law, Michael Soucy; and her two grandchildren, Elise and Sophia Soucy. She will be remembered by a special cousin, John Stewart of Bar Harbor; and a close childhood friend, Margaret Libby of Bangor.

Relatives and friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 768 Ohio St., Bangor. A committal will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.BrookingsSmith.com. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that either Catholic Masses be said in Diane's name, or that donations be made to All Saints Catholic School in Bangor.
