WOONSOCKET H. Paul Hemond, 90, of Warren Ave., passed away Thursday, January 27, 2011 at The Holiday in Lincoln surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of the late Jeannette C. (Duquette) Hemond.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Phydime and Selfride (Fontaine) Hemond, and lived in Woonsocket for most of his life.
Mr. Hemond attended Mt. St. Charles Academy and was a graduate of New England Institute of Technology. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and worked as a machinist for TMS, formerly of Bellingham, MA.
He is survived by two daughters, Paulette A. Grenon of Cumberland and her husband, Greg, Lucille D. Baro of Woonsocket and her husband, Jerry; four grandchildren, Dina Martin, and her husband, Scott, Angela Baro, Jamie Grenon, and his wife, Jessica, Jodie Bouvier and her husband, Tim, and one great-grandson, Liam Martin. He was the brother of Gerard Hemond of Woonsocket, and the late Fernand, Gaetan, J.B. Leo, and Reverend Rodrigues Hemond, Aline Harrington, Sister Cecile Hemond and Marguerite Trudeau.
He was a peaceful and active man throughout his entire life who, more than anything, loved being with his family. He enjoyed spending time with his best friend, Bill Weigand, at the Woonsocket Senior Center. He was a selfless man who deeply affected all of those who knew him.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at 9AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in Holy Family Church, So. Main St., Woonsocket. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Farm St., Blackstone, MA.
