Emile G. Lacoste
1905 - 2003
CHICOPEE, MA - Emile G. Lacoste, 97, of 630 Chicopee St. in the Willimansett
section of Chicopee, died on Saturday, March 8, 2003 at the Mercy Hospital in
Springfield. Before his retirement, he was employed as a shipping clerk at
the Philip Hano Co. in Holyoke. He was also a bartender at the Bridge Cafe
and the Royal Cafe, both in Chicopee. He was born in L'Ange Guardien, P.Q.,
Canada on May 1, 1905, the son of the late Hormidas and Marie (Brien)
Lacoste. He was a communicant of the Nativity Church and was active in parish
functions. He was also a member of the Birch Park Place Tenants Association.
His first wife of many years, the former Cecile Roy, died on December 23,
1966. He was also predeceased by his second wife, Lea Lacoste. He leaves one
son, Roger G. Lacoste and his wife Mary A. Lacoste of Hopewell, NY. He also
leaves one daughter, Constance T. Champigny, widow of Wilfred G. Champigny,
of Columbia City, Indiana. He was predeceased by eight brothers, Antonio,
Lorenzo, Arthur, George, Adrian, Ernest, Roland, and Paul Lacoste. He leaves
seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and seven
great-great-grandchildren. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. His
funeral will be held on Friday morning, March 14, 2003 at 9:15 a.m. from the
Arthur J. Brunelle Funeral Home at 811 Chicopee St., followed by a Mass of
Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Nativity, both in
Willimansett. Burial will be in the St. Rose Cemetery in Aldenville. Visiting
hours at the funeral home will be on Thursday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
