Dear Louis-Philippe: I wrote to you some months ago about help in how to
find my family. You gave me a few words of wisdom, and I went on my way,
rounding up what little I could find. Well, it took me some time, but I
really think that I'm well on my way.
Initially, I was looking for information on my grandfather, Philip George
Amo, who on his baptism certificate was christened as George Philip Emond.
His parents were Leander and Mary L. Leroux Amo. This is when I first wrote
to you.
Since that time we have written to relatives in New York whom I have never
met, but whom my mother grew up with -- over 50 years ago!!!!! We asked for
their help, and they sent a copy of a newspaper article of my g
grandfather, Leander Amo.
The article gave us the information to tie into your Hemond website:
Leander Amo was born in the month of July in Canada, a son of the late
Fabian (Isaie????) and Cleophee (Cluffie) Lalonde Amo. Leander came to the
United States with his mother at a young age, after his father died. . . .
. at the time of his death in 1935, Leander was survived by his brothers .
. . Napoleon and Louis Amo.
I've looked at the National Archives and Records Administration in San
Francisco at the Census Records - the 1920 Census have Leander, Napoleon &
Louis all immigrating to the US from Canada, and living in the same city.
I'm still researching the Census records from 1910 until when they would
have come to the US but it's hard to make the trip to San Francisco during
the week, especially when you work full time - and time just seems to fly
when you're doing the research.
Now I'm back to you, asking again for your assistance. Do you know
anything about the family at aidus-hemond.com/gedpage/fam00506.htm
I think that the Leon Hemond could be Napoleon Hemond, Louis is definitely
Louis, and could Polycarpe Hemond be Leander ? ? ? ?
If you feel as I do that this is the family, and that we are much closer
than we were several months ago, this family could be a match, I'll be more
than happy to update you on this Hemond Line when I finish my research.
Thank you again for your assistance in this regard. I look forward to your
response.
