John Dollen was born abt 1627.[1] John Dollen inhabited Monhegan Island. He was a fishing master for 20 or more years.[2] He was the second largest taxpayer in Pemaquid, Maine. He married the daughter of Capt Richard Gridley and Grace Surrey. [3]
Sarah Gridley was born abt 1631 and the daughter of Richard Gridley and Grace Surrey. She also was of Pemaquid, Maine. Pemaquid was one of the earliest used parts of the Americas for the fishing trade had been going on for years. [See the history of the town of Pemaquid, Maine.
The children of John and Sarah were (1) Joanna who married Ronald Kelly of Monhegan and second married James Mander of Charlestown and Boston, he died 8 May 1689. Joanna in 1717 of Boston was made deed of gift to her nephew Richard Wildes of Lancaster. (2) Patience married Walter Mander. (3) Grace Lucretia Dollen born abt 1659, married Denys Hegeman.
John Dollen, with Samuel Burnell and Wm. Phelps, sued in Boston John Casament Dec 1689 for bringing away from Monhegan two anchors, etc, and two swine.
John bought 400 acres at Round Pond for 3 gallons of liguor. John was living in Boston in 1700, 1706, and app in 1715. His wife died before 1700 for he was married second to the widow of John Selman Mary Waters daughter of Wm Waters of Boston. She died 4 Nov 1717 age 85.
