LEO B. HEMOND - East Providence01:00 AM EDT on Wednesday, September 24, 2003LEO B. HEMOND, 82, of Washburn Avenue, Rumford, a retired steelworker, diedyesterday at home.He was the husband of the late Beatrice C. (Fortin) Hemond. Born in CentralFalls, a son of the late Phydime and Anna (Levesque) Hemond, he had lived inPawtucket before moving to East Providence four years ago.Mr. Hemond had been a heat treater and steel hardener at Schuberts HeatTreating Co., in Providence, for 27 years before retiring 19 years ago. Hewas a member of the International Association of Machinists and AerospaceWorkers.He was an Army veteran of World War II.Mr. Hemond was a communicant of St. Edward Church, in Pawtucket, where hewas a sexton and a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and theFriendly Visitors.He leaves five daughters, Laraine B. Costa of East Providence, with whom heresided, Elaine A. Perry, also of East Providence, Paulette R. Trojan ofPawtucket, Suzanne M. Lizotte of Pownal, Vt., and Michelle L. Crosby ofWarwick; a son, Joseph L. Hemond of Pawtucket; a brother, Rene Hemond inConnecticut; three sisters, Estelle Hebert of Pawtucket, Jean Lizotte ofCentral Falls and Claire Eggeman of Lincoln; a companion, Cheryl Sabatini ofWarwick; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was a brother ofthe late Gerard Hemond.The funeral will be held on Friday at 8:45 a.m. from the Perry-McStayFuneral Home, 2555 Pawtucket Ave., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 inSt. Edward Church, Weeden Street, Pawtucket. Burial will be in Notre DameCemetery, Pawtucket.
