Olivette J. Soucy, 94, formerly of Alder Drive in Nashua NH, widow of Laurier E. “Larry” Soucy, died Saturday afternoon, January 2, 2010 at the Courville at Nashua, after a period of declining health. A native and lifelong resident of this city, Mrs. Soucy was born on November 20, 1915, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Pony) Fortin.
Olivette was educated in Nashua schools and was a lifelong communicant of St. Louis de Gonzague Church. Mrs. Soucy was a Eucharistic Minister and was actively involved in church affairs. She and her husband owned and operated Larry’s Market on the corner of Pine and Central Streets in Nashua for many years. After Olivette and Larry retired, they enjoyed spending many winters in Florida.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Soucy was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Laurier E. Soucy who died February 18, 1997; a son, Leonard Soucy; a daughter, Vivian Pauline Lastowka; three brothers, Charles, Henry and Raymond Fortin; and a sister, Wilda Tremblay.
Members of her family include three grandchildren, Eric J. Lastowka and his wife Dawn J. Lastowka of Hanover, MA, Adam J. Lastowka of Madison, GA and Katherine Anderson and her husband William H. Anderson II of Belmont, MA; four great-grandchildren, Kendra, Britton and George Lastowka and William H. Anderson III; a brother, Edward Fortin and his wife Pearl of Nashua; a sister, Eva Gagnon of Dover, NH; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
