HEMOND, a former coroner and medical officer of health for Tecumseh, Ontario, died at his home in Windsor on June 13, 1969, after an illness of several months. He was 72 years of age. Born in Windsor, Ontario, he graduated in medicine at the University of Toronto in 1926 and established a practice at Sandwich, Ontario. In 1944 Dr. Hemond went to Tecumseh, where he practised until his retirement in 1968. He was appointed coroner in 1954, retiring in 1966, and for many years was physician and surgeon for the Essex County jail. He also served as Tecumseh representative on the Essex County Board of Health. He was a member of the Essex County Medical Society. Dr. Hemond is survived by his widow, the former Dorothy Marentette; a son, Paul, and two daugh¬ ters, Dolores and Janet. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and two sisters.
