BREWER – Lillian Frances "Frannie" Soucie, 83, wife of the late Carroll P. Soucie, died March 21, 2012, at a Brewer health care center. She was born Sept. 30, 1928, in Winterport, the daughter of Edwin and Lois (Francis) Fields.
Frannie was a 1946 graduate of Winterport High School, where she was a star basketball player. She was a longtime resident of Brewer having coached girls Lassie League softball during the 1960s. Frannie worked in the shoe industry for Tucker Shoe and later for American Felt Slipper. She enjoyed the activities during her time at Brewer Rehab, including bingo, music and Bible study, and she was also a devoted Red Sox fan.
Surviving are three children, Linda Hodgins and her husband, John, of Brewer, C. Allan Soucie and his wife, Priscilla, of Bangor and Dana A. Soucie of Brewer; five grandchildren, her special first grandchild, Timothy Hodgins and his wife, Katie, of Orrington, Brock Soucie and his wife, Velta, of Flemington, N.J., Dominic Soucie of Bangor, Matthew Soucie of Brewer and Adrienne Soucie and her fiance, Richard Eagen, of Pacific Palisades, Calif.; four great-grandchildren, Alex and Andrew Hodgins of Orrington and Anna and Aleksandris Soucie of Flemington, N.J.; sisters-in-law, Ruth Fields of Bucksport and Lois Fields of Torrington, Conn.; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Carroll, in 1998; three brothers, Atwood, Arnold and Ralph Fields; and by one sister, Maxine Hussey. She will be remembered by two close friends: her classmate, Faith Roberts and roommate, Flo York. Frannie's family gratefully thanks the staff of Brewer Rehab for their excellent care they provided throughout the years.
Burial will be later in the spring at Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer. (Bangor Daily News posted 3/22/2012)
