Leo J. Emond, age 77, of Fairfield, beloved husband of Donna Morabito Emond, was called home to God on Wednesday, March 20, 2013. Born in Norwalk on September 7, 1935 he was the son of the late Ralph and Beatrice Luneau Emond. Leo graduated from Bassick High School in Bridgeport and received a Bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Bridgeport. He served in the U.S. Army with deployment in Germany. Before his retirement, Leo was a long time employee for Aquarion Water Company in Bridgeport. In addition to his wife Donna of 52 years, survivors include three daughters, Kara Tzanetis and her husband Peter of Fairfield, Renee Walker and her husband Brian of Fairfield and Krista Wise and her husband John of Trumbull, a sister, Marie Emond of Stratford, three brothers, Roger Emond of Stratford, Donald Emond and his wife Concetta of Trumbull, and Albert Emond of Stratford, six grandchildren, Kyle and Kevin Tzanetis, Christopher Walker, Michael, David and Ethan Wise as well as many nieces and nephews. He was pre deceased by two sisters, his twin Lucille Beust and Doris Twohey as well as his infant children, Maryann and Ralph Gerard. Leo was devoted to his faith and served as Eucharistic Minister and Religious Education Teacher at Saint Augustine Cathedral in Bridgeport. Leo was a talented jack of all trades. There wasn't anything he could not fix or create. He enjoyed carpentry, painting, gardening, and presidential history. He was an avid sports fan and could often be seen at estate sales. He was a hero to his six grandsons for whom he taught, nurtured, and loved deeply. Leo simply was everything to everyone. God's angels came and took you away, to a land of brightness and grand array. Our hearts are broken. Our spirits crushed. You are gone forever. We loved you so much. Friends are invited to meet directly in Holy Family Church, 700 Old Stratfield Rd, Fairfield on Monday, March 25, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery in Fairfield. Friends may call on Sunday from 1-5 p.m at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Christopher Walker Special Needs Trust Fund 2490 Black Rock Turnpike, Box 290, Fairfield, CT 06825
