BRATTLEBORO, Vt. --Catherine W. Emond, 82, a lifelong resident of the area, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, following a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Mrs. Emond was born in Guilford, Vt., on Nov. 24, 1930, the daughter of J. Perry and Pearl (Elmer) Whitney. She was raised and educated in Brattleboro attending local public schools.
She had been employed for more than 30 years by the former Stratford Publishing in Brattleboro and previously served as assistant administrator of the Thompson House Nursing Home.
Mrs. Emond was the wife of Robert R.J. Emond who predeceased her in 1995.
Survivors include her four children that include Barbara Simonds and her husband, Philip, of Winslow. Additionally, she leaves one brother, a sister, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Brattleboro with burial to follow in Meetinghouse Hill Cemetery. Calling hours were held Wednesday at the Atamaniuk Funeral Home in Brattleboro.
